Welcome Leigh Cassidy, new Lancaster Academic Advising Coordinator

Welcome Leigh Cassidy, new Lancaster Academic Advising Coordinator

We are so excited to welcome the newest member of the SCPS, Lancaster academic advisor, Leigh Cassidy. We asked Leigh to tell us a little bit more about herself and what interested her in this new position!

“I am very excited about my new role as the Academic Advising Coordinator for the Lancaster campus.  My passion is supporting the growth and development of people through education. The School of Continuing and Professional Studies at Elizabethtown College provides an exceptional program for adult learners and I am looking forward to making a contribution to their team of dedicated professionals.  The best part of the job has been getting to know the students and discovering what has ignited their interest in continuing their education.  I returned to school as an adult learner myself so I have appreciation for some of the factors that are instrumental in the success of continuing education.

After graduating from Penn State with a B.S. degree in Operations Management, I started my career in the field of information technology providing consultation, training, sales, design and support for software applications. Over the years, I developed a strong interest in the field of education and returned to school to earn a M.S. degree in Counseling and Human Relations from Villanova University. For over eight years I worked as a School Counselor helping students build a strong foundation for their future through education.  Prior to joining Elizabethtown College, I worked with students who were at risk of dropping out overcome barriers to education that interfered with completing their degree.

I am deeply committed to serving the SCPS students of Elizabethtown College reach their educational goals. The students are at the center of all that we do and I look forward to supporting them as we open new doors to their future!”

Please join us in welcoming Leigh to the SCPS staff. We are thrilled to have her!
