Financial Aid Tips with Chris Mowl, Associate Director of Financial Aid

Did you know that the Federal Government places a limit on how much you can borrow in Direct Stafford Loan funding?  In order to curtail the student debt burden, the federal government sets a lifetime aggregate borrowing limit for undergraduate students at a total of $57,500 (with a maximum of $23,000 of this being federal Direct Subsidized Loan).  The limit for a graduate student is a total of $138,500 (this includes undergraduate borrowing).  To find out how much you have borrowed; check out the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) at www.nslds.ed.gov.  If you want to discuss any concerns you have about your lifetime limit, please contact the Financial Aid Office at 717-361-1404 or via email at finaid@etown.edu.
