2017 Alpha Sigma Lambda Induction
Congratulations to our 6th group of members that were inducted into the Chi Epsilon Chapter of Alpha Sigma Lambda at Elizabethtown College. We celebrated these nine students’ accomplishments with a ceremony and reception on Sunday, March 26th.
Alpha Sigma Lambda is an honor society. It was founded in 1946 at Northwestern University near Chicago, Illinois, as a means of motivation and recognition for adult learners who maintained high scholastic averages, while handling numerous career and family responsibilities.
Currently, there are over 300 chapters at colleges and universities throughout the United States. A quote from the Alpha Sigma Lambda website states: “For the non-traditional student, the Society stands as an inspiration for continuing scholastic growth, and is a builder of pride through recognition.”
In order to be invited into membership, today’s inductees must meet the following criteria:
- They must have completed a minimum of 30 credits at Elizabethtown College. They also must have earned at least 12 credits in the Liberal Arts/Core Program. These courses may have been taken at Elizabethtown or transferred in from another school.
- They must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.2 on a 4.0 point scale.
- And, finally, they must be ranked in the top 10% of qualifying adult learners.
Congratulations again to our new members!
