Prospective Students: Admissions Requirements

Do you…

  • have a desire to stretch yourself in a rigorous academic setting?
  • seek a learning program that will help you advance in your profession?
  • have the time to devote to fulfilling your educational goals?

These are some of the questions we ask you to consider as you evaluate your decision to return to school.  Our admissions counselors can help you determine if our program is the right one for you.

The first thing you’ll need to know is the minimum criteria for entry into the program.  You will need to:

  1. have a minimum of three years of full-time work experience.
  2. be at least age 23.  Individuals interested in entering the program who are younger than age 23 will need to obtain permission from the dean of the Continuing Education Department.
  3. have graduated from high school or earned a GED.   Successful completion of some college coursework is strongly suggested prior to entering an accelerated program.
  4. have writing ability sufficient for success in an accelerated academic program.  You will be asked to write an essay that demonstrates your ability to write clearly, use proper grammar, and organize your writing into correct compositional expression.  (See further guidelines below.)
  5. have the time to devote to your coursework.  Course requirements in a five week accelerated class can be as high as 20 hours per week.

To apply:

  1. Meet with an admissions counselor who will explain the program, provide you with a preliminary evaluation of your transfer credits, and answer any questions you may have.  This admissions interview is a required step for entry into the program.  To schedule a meeting, call 717-361-1411.
  2. Complete the online application form at https://etowndegrees.com/prospective-students/onlineapp.asp.  This provides basic background information, lists your prior education, and indicates the specific program and major you intend to pursue.
  3. Request official transcripts of all previous college work be sent directly from your schools to the CCEDL office. If you have not attended college previously, you will need to have your high school transcript sent.
  4. Submit a current resume, outlining your work experience.
  5. Submit a two to three page essay addressing:
    • your understanding of a rigorous accelerated program;
    • how you envision incorporating into your life the time necessary to meet these demands;
    • your own story.  What are your professional and academic goals?

Essay guideline:

  • Both documents should be mailed or sent as email attachments, preferably in Word. They should not be sent in the body of an email.
